Marty Kay Hutton Scrapbooking Workshops

Marty Kay Hutton, a Creative Memories Consultant, will be conducting scrapbooking workshops at The Park every Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. beginning May 24, 2007. These 4 hour "hands-on" workshops are designed for all levels of scrapbookers. Learn traditional and digital techniques using top-of-the-line scrapbooking tools and products as you make a memorable keepsake of your visit to Vallecito. Armed Forces Day

May 19th We would like to say Thank You to all our Armed Forces personnel and their families for everything you do. For the month of May, we are extending a 30% accommodations discount to all personnel and their families. If you are unable to make use of our cabins or RV/tent sites, please come for the day. Enjoy a day at the lake then stop by for a complimentary Bar-B-Q Picnic to be served at 2 pm. Lots of activities for kids of all ages: ping-pong and pool tables, basketball, hiking and much more.

Fire in the Mountains

June 9 - 10 For the third year the bands will be staying at the park for the weekend. Enjoy a performance on Saturday night or catch them jamming all over the park throughout the weekend.

Bost Family Traditions

June 15th Returning for the third year, this great family bluegrass band has again found an open date to play in the Park. Come enjoy our barbeque and listen to some great music.

Blue Spruce is a popular spot in Vallecito for our great Arts and Craft Show every other week throughout the summer (6/12, 6/26, 7/10, 7/24, 8/7, 8/21, 9/10. Come enjoy a sweet roll and coffee while you browse the booths at our bi-weekly crafts show from 9 am to 12 pm. Our grand finale during Labor Day Weekend is an all day event with barbeque sandwiches and refreshments.

The pancake breakfast and pot luck dinners are always a good time to enjoy yummy food with old friends and new friends too.

Guided Contemplative Journeys with Priscilla Wiggins

Capturing the Local Beauty8/1 - 9/7 Join outdoors enthusiast and artist Priscilla Wiggins for outdoor adventures that include creativity, contemplative time and hiking. Instruction in watercolor painting and meditation.

Tuesday Evenings - SUNSET BY THE LAKE Guided meditation with watercolor painting. Changing colors of the lake, sky and mountains. NO HIKING INVOLVED. Art supplies provided for use on site.

Wednesday Mornings - GUIDED CONTEMPLATIVE JOURNEY Deep-listening silent hike, approximately 1 mile up the trail to vista with smooth boulders, followed by guided relaxation narrative. Gradual to steep hiking 30 minutes on rocky trail.

When: 10 am - 12:30 pm
Cost: $30
Bring: Please bring a backpack with water, rain gear, pad to lie down on rocks, sturdy hiking shoes.

 

Wednesday Afternoons - ASPEN PAINTING Art Exhibit and demonstration of painting aspens in oils. Paintings and notecards available for purchase.

Thursdays - WATERCOLOR PAINTING Sitting beside Vallecito Creek, let your creativity be inspired by deep-listening into the sounds and sights of water rushing over rocks. Brief, easy walk. Art supplies provided for use on site.

When: 10 am - 2 pm
Cost: $40 participant/$25 observer
Bring: Please bring a backpack with water, lunch, rain gear, pad to sit on rocks, sturdy hiking shoes.

 

Fridays - GUIDED CONTEMPLATIVE JOURNEY WITH WATERCOLOR PAINTING Deep-listening silent hike, approximately 2 miles up the trail to little cascading waterfalls where mediation will lead to watercolor painting. Moderate to strenuous 1 hour hike with steep ascents and descents. Art supplies provided for use on site.

When: 10 am - 3 pm
Cost: $45 participant/$30 observer
Bring: Please bring a backpack with water, lunch, rain gear, pad to sit on rocks, sturdy hiking shoes.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Priscilla Wiggins has been camping and painting in the San Juan's since 1979. A practitioner of Yoga, Tai Chi and meditation, she was educated at Bennington College, Vermont, and holds a B. A. from the University of New Mexico. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows in Santa Fe, Taos, and currently at the Blue Raven Gallery in Silverton. She lives and paints outdoors, year-round: summers in southwest Colorado and winters in the tropics and Big Bend, Texas.

Memorial Day Fishing Tournament

Bring the whole family for a fun weekend at beautiful Vallecito Lake. Adult $16.00, Junior $6.00. Enter the optional Big Fish Pot (if your fish is the biggest, you get all the dough in the pot). Day 2: Sunday May 27th 7-9 am. Final weigh-in at 4 pm. Awards Ceremony at 5 pm with fish fry afterwards from 6 - 8 pm located at the Vallecito Community Center.

Enjoy the beautiful Lake view and mountain air while feasting on our great breakfast. Pancakes, ham, sausage, eggs cooked to order and all the trimmings will be served at the Vallecito Community Center.
